This Italian Piazza is located along the Grand Canal in the center of Venice. The historic significance of pizzas are typically places of large congregation for either politics, religion, or market. This one is closely related to the Ponte di Rialto bridge that crosses the Grand Canal. This piazza in particular is a modest marketplace along one of Venice’s main roads.
The place of congregation for my fabric is the marketplace surrounding the piazza. It is composed of a series of archways that host vendors and a walking area. In the center is an island of congregation called a cistern. There seems to be minimal congregation between the two locations.
A majority of the population that congregate at these markets are typically tourists. The markets aim to sell souvenirs to the tourists that come to visit Venice’s famous bridge.
As far as modeling the site I have approximated the distance between the arches to be 7 feet with the columns being 1.5 foot squares. The total height of the arches is 11.5 feet. These arches play as both the threshold to the marketplace as well as a barrier for the entire area.
